In Memory of Jay Carstensen

On May 26, 2016 we lost a member of the LaSalle St. family. Jay Carstensen passed away at age 67 after a long battle with Type 1 diabetes.jay carstensen

Jay was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and served his country as a Marine before getting his start in the financial industry. In 1991, Jay joined us at LaSalle St. Securities and worked as Chief Investment Officer for 25 years.

Jay was everybody’s favorite person in the office. He taught many of us everything we know about investing. Jay would wake up every morning at 5:00 am to watch CNBC and stay in the office well beyond the closing bell, working tirelessly to manage his clients portfolios.

Jay loved sports. When the TV in his office wasn’t set to CNBC, he was catching up on the happenings in the sporting world. Jay was an avid golfer. Just like he mastered the stock market, Jay taught many around the office a thing-or-two on the links at every golf outing he attended.

Jay had a real zest for life. He treated each day as if it were truly a gift from God. We all miss him very much.

Jay Carstensen is survived by his wife Veronica, son Ryan, daughters Kristin and Heide, sisters Joy and Candy, and his grandchildren: Samuel, Maggie, Jacob, Rachel and Jack. He will be buried in Fairfield, Connecticut. A celebration of Jay’s life will be held in Chicago on his birthday, August 20, 2016.
